Meet Your Coach

My Journey

I'd like to quickly share with you my personal health journey which led me to my passion as a health coach. My health and subsequently life-changing journey started over 10 years ago in 2002. My third child was about a year old, I was a work-at-home mom, and I found myself having unexplained pain all over my

body. Concerned about what this could be, I consulted my primary doctor who subsequently referred me to various specialists to rule out lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. 

 

In addition to the all-over body aches and pains, I found it almost impossible to lose weight. Not only was I more than 40 pounds overweight, I was also constantly bloated - often being mistaken for being pregnant (which I was not). I also had thinning hair on the top of my head, had trouble sleeping, focusing and suffered from anxiety. After many tests and doctor visits, I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia and told that I would have to stop breastfeeding in order to be put on a regimen of meds for treatment. Because I was adamant about continuing to nurse my baby, this treatment was not an option for me and thus began my wellness journey.

My Wake-up Call

This was my wake-up call! Ever had that moment? The moment when you realize that things have got to change?  That's where I was at now. This is when I realized that I had to take a close look at my life and reassess everything - all the core fundamentals of health and wellbeing. I had to be willing to look at what underlying nutritional, emotional, stress triggers, beliefs, and lifestyle imbalances were affecting my health in such a negative way.  This was the beginning of a journey of deep self-reflection. Between adjusting not only what I ate, but becoming aware of products I used personally and in the home, taking supplements, changing my sleeping habits, managing stress, and frankly becoming more spiritually aware, I was able to nurture myself back to health. I was now pain free with significantly increased energy levels. My digestive health was improved, and I had a 42 pound weight loss! This was when I realized how lifestyle choices can truly affect one's health & wellbeing and decided to become formally trained as a holistic health coach. In doing that, my passion is to support, inspire and empower you on your own wellness journey. 

How I Help

I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness in helping you build personal resilience, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole. Identifying and managing your personal stressors and the habits that are not currently serving you and putting into place self-care practices is one of the most effective ways for helping you to reduce stress, regain energy, lose unwanted weight, and reclaim the vibrancy you seek.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find the changes collectively create a much larger impact than they originally expected. We work on what you want to improve, and within the circumstances of your unique situation.

 

In order to achieve this, I incorporate various tools and techniques to help us identify what emotions, stress triggers, beliefs, and lifestyle imbalances are stopping you or slowing you down from feeling your personal best.

We will look at how you are coding your experiences and how those internal representations affect the body with either health or illness.

As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you as well as keener self awareness and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, vibrancy and overall wellbeing.
